Hello everyone!
Today, the theme of my speech is “My Ideal”.
Firstly, I firmly believe that where there is a will, there is a way. When it comes to ideals, I know many of you have set ambitious goals for yourselves: some aspire to become managers, others dream of being businessmen, and still others long to be environmental protectors. However, my ideal is to become a teacher.
Leo Tolstoy once said, “Ideal is the beacon. Without ideal, there is no secure direction; without direction, there is no life.” Indeed, a lofty ideal serves as a guiding light on the path to success. It is the key that unlocks the door to achievement. Without an ideal, one lacks motivation. Just as water striking against stones produces sound, so too does ambition stimulate one to plan grandly.
I once read a story about a king who was rewarding the most contributive person. Firstly, a doctor stepped forward and claimed to have cured nine thousand nine hundred and ninetynine patients. The king shook his head. Then, a poet appeared and boasted that his poems were as good as those of Li Bai and Du Fu. The king still shook his head. After that, many people came forward one after another, but none of them received the award and left in disappointment. Suddenly, a sixtyyearold man came forward with a child, holding a thick textbook. He said kindly to the king, “In our motherland, spring is everywhere with flowers and green willows, and fruitful achievements need gardeners to cultivate.” The king immediately smiled and excitedly said, “You are the most contributive person!” After that, the king personally put a garland on him and awarded him a medal.
Since then, I have gained a deep understanding of the profession of teaching. At this moment, my ambition and lofty ideal are reignited.
